Jd 350 direction reverser has no power

Post by JSmith » Tue May 08, 2018 4:55 pm

Before I had too thin a fluid, so I put in some hydraulic oil in and it worked fine. Now it's warmer and it drives fine for a minute but once it warms up it loses all it's power and doesn't turn. Should I be using summer hydraulic oil if there's such a thing. If you check the fluid it's quite warm and seems pretty thin. Thanks

Reverser is multi trans fluid, not hyd fluid, that might be part of the problem. Straight hyd oil will wreck something sooner or later. Doubt viscosity is your problem, possibly pump issue.

I used tdh. I think I will try the oil that John Deere recommends. If it is the pump I would like to limp it through the summer and rebuild it over the winter. Would that cause any excessive damage

If the clutches are slipping, you will burn them up.
