Hydraulic control valve on 450 C

Post by Mountainman » Wed Jun 13, 2018 7:11 pm

I have another question for all you experts. I have a 1979 450C dozer and trying to get used to it. According to the operator manual this 6way blade is supposed to have a float position if you push the lever all the way forward and stay there until you pull it back. Mine doesn't do this, is there an adjustment?

Float lock may be damaged or removed by someone that doesn't want it.

How much slack do you have in the control lever? The 1 that I just but on my 450C would not go to float, rebuilt the control lever (new bushing, links, rollpins ). Wow I had float. Looked at my parts dozer, PO had notched the box so he could go to float. Amazing what a few bushings & pins can do. JD used to offer a kit for this NA now. Good luck.
