I have read that Seafoam is good for removing moisture in hyd oil. I just used it on a customers engine that was badly water contaminated, and it worked better than I could have ever hoped, it is my new go to.
Otherwise, the rule of thumb is 140 degrees operating temp of the fluid for at least half an hour to remove moisture. Hard to do in cylinders I know, reservoir not so much.

I drained and filled with new oil, new filter, 5 qts of oil, and one can of Seafoam, pretty sure they are 16 oz. I let the crawler idle for 45 minutes, and it cleaned it up so there was no moisture residue or discoloration to the oil whatsoever.

so would you recommend using sea foam in my jd440 hydraulic system and maybe an annual add to keep moisture down?

I've sold Seafoam for years and have never hear of this use for it, but this is good to know. Thanks for the tip Lavoy.

Where does the water and seafoam go? Mix together and settle to the bottom of the tank?

It mixes with the water and makes it more "volatile" for lack of a better term, and so it evaporates more easily.
