I have a JD450 ser# 251. The injection pump has developed a significant leak so I have decided to rebuild it. I have ordered the SM-2045 service manual that corresponds to the JDB431 pump on the machine. I am a pretty fair mechanic but have never done an injection pump and would appreciate any input that anyone might want to share.
Any updates or mandatory parts that should be replaced beyond the obvious soft parts?
Are there any part #s for basic rebuild kits out there to save from having to order individual parts? Might there be a list of parts that I will definately need?
Are there any parts dealers that are better, cheaper, more reliable, or more honest than others (for these parts) in your experiences?
Any recommended web sites I should know about before I start this project?
All input will be appreciated. Thank you.

If you read this post you'll find some very good information from DrLoch:

However, when I ran down all the parts and tools I found the cost was going to be about $200 for me to do it myself. I found a place that would do it for $414 bucks including freight both directions http://www.dcpcart.com/OScart/product_i ... pump-p-274
I've had my pump back for several months without issue.
Good luck.

Thanks for that info. I'm going to check those guys out. Had a problem with my 450c pump last fall, after 4 trip to the rebuilder and $3000.00 of my money I guess they got it right. On the first rebuild it did not run 3 hour before it came apart. The next one lasted about 5 hours. Live and learn, bet you I don't use that bunch again.
