John Deere 350 Operator Canopy

Post by Hbenjamin4 » Wed Jul 25, 2018 8:19 am

Hello,

I am looking for an operator canopy for a 350D dozer. Numerous searches through John Deere Parts and dealership visits have not given me any clarification as to which part number I should be looking for.

The machine has the mounts and isolator bushings that accept a canopy with the yoke or clevis type ends. The only canopy in the 350D parts manual of this type is for backhoe application and has the flip top hatch. All other canopies shown resemble the bolt on style that were used on 350Bs and Cs. I do find a canopy that resembles what I am looking for in the 450D manual but I have no idea if this canopy would fit the 350D.

I have looked at many 350D images online and all of them take this style of canopy so I am sure that this machine is not a one of a kind in any way. Because of this I am not sure why this has become so difficult. My father in law has a 550 dozer with this style of canopy and some very quick measurements seem to make it appear that it would fit on the 350D.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Beyond that, the next challenge will be to find a good used canopy but I need start with identifying the part number.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I think the D is the same as the C for ROPS, where there is the normal one and a different one for the backhoe. And, it sounds like you have the mounts on your machine for the backhoe ROPS.

Thanks Stan. The pictures of the 350Ds floating around the web all show the standard canopy without the flip hatch. I think I'll do some more measuring on the 550 and see if that doesn't work. Somebody has to have a good explanation for it though.

Hi,

Maybe they are the same, but the 550 is a larger machine. The thing has to keep the weight of the machine from crushing you should it flip over. So, I would think that a 550 has a larger ROPS than a 350.
