450 straight transmission

Post by Randynscottsboro » Tue Oct 02, 2018 5:48 pm

I have a 450 straight with collar shift transmission I need parts for it that I can not locate. I found a good complete 450B trans and rear complete that has had a fresh rebuild. Would it be a direct replacement into a straight 450 machine? I know how much work is involved but this machine is useless without reverse working.
Thanks

Hi,

I think trying Lavoy would be the first option since he sells parts to keep this site running.

Now, just thinking outside the box here, a lot of old Deere equipment shared parts with ag equipment. (I had a 68 John Deere skidder that shared a lot of parts with 3020 and 4020 tractors. Literally all the internal transmission parts were the same as a 3020. Maybe there is a similar crossover with your machine?) Maybe? It might be worth some time on the jdparts website looking around.

I cannot speak on bolting up a different transmission to your tractor.

Good luck getting the old girl up and running!

While the later trans might bolt in, there would be a lot of other incidentals that would have to go in at the same time would think. Especially when going from a gear drive to an HLR. Direct bolt in and go, I highly doubt.
