350B reverser

Post by gregjo1948 » Sat Oct 20, 2018 3:35 am

Was there an option on the 350B to locate the reverser control lever on the right fender instead of the left? If not what lever, besides the blade control lever, would be mounted there?

Hi,

No option for the reverser lever on the right. Only the hydraulic levers on the right. Can also be a winch control lever on the right.

Stan

Edit: To be more specific, the winch lever would mount to the operator side of the RH box. That is, not inside where the hyd tank is. Between the box and the seat cushion.

Looking at a picture of the right side, there's the 6way blade T lever and a slightly shorter straight lever to the outside of the T. Theres no pic of the rear of the machine but, the side shot would show a winch. Could the lever in ? be for a remote hydraulic line?

Hi,

Second lever is for an aux valve. They had the valves even if they were not hooked to anything. Most aux levers are probably removed. Mine is off so it won't be activated with it plugged off since nothing is hooked to it. They were meant for later addition of a 3-pt hitch or a ripper. Sometimes folks add remote connectors.

The winch lever works a valve inside the winch. It has its own hyd system powered from a stub shaft which pokes out the rear. Sometimes the winch is gone but the lever remained. I presume, when I see that, that the winch died and was removed leaving the lever. Mine had a winch because it has the shaft but I presume it was working as the lever is gone as well. ;)

Early 350s had the reverser lever on the dash. Later on the left box. On the Straight and the B 350s, reversers were optional, so there would be no reverser lever present in either position. Reverse is by the trans on those. That isn't as bad as on the older machines as the trans is collar shift and the 2 and R are synced so the lever slips between them every time.

In the FWIW dept, on the C and D 350s, they all have reversers since the reverser oil pump pressurizes the wet steering clutches.

You mention pics. Is this a 350 currently on eBay? I saw one there yesterday with the manual inside mount blade and no reverser lever. Has the 'foot rests' on the dash so I think it is a straight 350 minus reverser. I look about once a week for a ripper for mine. Or, a 3-pt. ;)

Stan

Edit: Not the eBay one as, upon rereading, you mention a T lever, and that is for the 6-way blade. Yes, the aux lever handle for a 6-way is short. Those with a 2-way are the same length as the blade lever.

The machine in this discussion is on CL. The decals are 350B but there is no visible reverser on the dash or battery box. There is a short lever on the hydraulic tank beside the 6 way T lever. That's why I wondered about a right hand reverser option. My 1010C had an extra lever next to the blade lever that did nothing. The blade was manual tilt and angle so I use the extra lever to make hydraulic tilt. That made ditching and cutting roads on a side hill much easier.
