450b age?

Post by redlightrich » Thu Nov 15, 2018 9:15 am

Hello all, newbee Rich here. I have recently acquired this 450b with the purchase of my home.

It seems to have sat for a long time. After some work, I actually have it running and moving. I have an operators manual, but I think it is for a different year.

My tag ID is 170427T

My guess is it is a 1975 or so. It is equipped with a turbo.

I am missing the floor panels ( plates that go where your feet rest), so I will need to source them eventually. If I am reading my parts manual correctly, there are 2 plates for the floor?

Being they were missing when I got it, I am not certain what they look like.

Any info on the floor plates, and the year of the dozer would be great.

Thank you all for any input you can provide.

Rich

Good morning and welcome,
Stan has a very nice post in the "John Deere Crawler FAQ's" section that lists the models, years and SN breakdowns. For a 450B, SN 164,047 - 185,798 is listed as a 1974.

The floor boards are 2 pieces, one left and one right. The are a steel diamond plate material. Likely not available from Deere, but should be relatively easy to find, as they are not an item known to wear out/break etc.. Consider sending an email to this site's owner, Lavoy, regarding the parts needed.

Best regards, Bruce
