3310 vs 3315 winch

Post by Jerseymill » Mon Dec 24, 2018 6:21 am

I am looking for a winch for my 350. I have found both models (3310 & 3315) and was wondering if anyone could describe the differences between the manual and the power winch. What are some pros and cons and does anyone know if one is more reliable than the other. Thanks

I have a spare 3315 complete, on the ground. Never used it and current 350 has rippers. Need to get rid of it. Where are you?

Make sure you get all the control cable and handle, you will have an near impossible time finding them otherwise. My 3315 sure works well. I think the 3310 had a more complicated control handle with two opposing hydraulic master type cylinders and several hoses to the pump. 3315 just a single control cable.

It looks to me like the biggest difference is the control system. The 3310 is controlled similar to the old Gearmatic winches, used on the earlier crawlers. The 3310 has a separate hand control unit that makes hydraulic pressure to operate the clutch and brake, basically hand pumps. One for the clutch and one for the brake; the opposing cylinders Scottyb mentioned. The clutch and brake are operated by small cylinders. The 3315 is a power winch in that it has a self contained hydraulic system control system (reservoir, pump, valve). The valve on the winch is operated by a hand lever via a cable. The valve operates a cylinder to release the brake and applies a disc type clutch pack for haul in. The parts books are available to review if you go to JD Parts and look at the 350 crawlers. The winches are included as components of the crawlers.
