Snow-Cut Pads for my '99 450G

Post by Al Swearengen » Mon Feb 11, 2019 4:58 pm

Any leads on best price/availability? This damn popping is now more than I can tolerate after this big storm (SALT rails, new sprockets installed about 200 hours ago---didn't have enough $$ to swap out the pads then).

Well I can't source them anywhere. Any idea what a ballpark figure would be to have my pads regroused at a shop...and wondering if they would also be set up to cut the hole?

It looks like T127057, single bar, 16", open center, shoe for 9/16" bolts is available from John Deere. The place you got your chains can't help you?

You would need to ask the shop you want to use to do the grousers if they are set up to cut your pads. Likely a fab/welding shop would be. I think a plasma cutter would put the least heat into them for cutting the center holes. That said, I wonder if you will see breakage if you cut the holes in them.

Thank you for the part number! The local dealer (PAPE) had no clue...called them Friday, said they would research and get back to me. Looks like I can now help him with your help! I chose Berco SALT for my rails, never called them...maybe should try.

I figured you had already checked with your track supplier. It would seem Berco should have them, they are mentioned in some of their literature. Where and the lead time might be the question.

The shoe options are listed in the track groups of the John Deere parts catalogs. But if you didn't buy from them they may not be as inclined to help you. Here is a link to one of the track group pages. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sid ... gId/656416

Prior owner of my 450C looks like he cut relief holes in the pads with oxygen acetylene

I've heard the name and seen some ads but can't say I have knowingly seen their product. Will they give you any references that are using their undercarriage components you could contact?

Good idea...been researching what I can find, seems they all rate about the same.

Trek Brand. We have been using it for 15+ years. Rails held up great on our widepad 350’s. Never had any issues with their rollers or sprockets.

Thanks for your feedback. That agrees with everything I have found also. I'll be ordering a set tomorrow!

Well that was a great lead for me! Thank you! While they didn't have pads with the holes cut, the company sent them out for me for plasma cutting then shipped to me. Couldn't be happier! Pushed my first snow the other day and they completely solved the problem! No more sprocket jumping!
