JD 350 left side track barely drives
Hello everyone! I recently purchased a JD 350 dozer! The steering clutches were replaced the right side drives and steers perfectly! The left side will brake and barely drive until it’s under pressure then it has no drive! I have attempted
To adjust them by the manual specs but it didn’t improve! Any ideas

Good afternoon,
You mentioned the right side was rebuilt (I assume this was done by the prior owner). Did they do any work on the left side? It has been my experience in the crawler world that one side is not far behind the other side. If adjusted properly by the manual and no prior work, I would expect the left clutch will need re-built.
Best regards, Bruce

Re: JD 350 left side track barely drives
Thank you all for the info the caps that go over the compartment were the adjustments take place were left off, when I operate the machine, I can herr sizzling in the left final drive housing and smell something heating up! I figure it’s gotten water down in the housing!
Re: JD 350 left side track barely drives
Water in the clutch housing typically causes lots of corrosion and swollen disks. This will cause the clutch to lock up. Some people buy inexpensive disks to lower the price of their rebuild. The center of the cheaper disks can be tore out and cause problems like you are describing. Either way the left side will need to come apart. Please order quality parts from Lavoy(the proprietor of this site).

Okay thank you

The PO could have put the wrong # of disks back in the clutch pack. One less disk would cause your symptoms, also.

B town
Does all 350’s vary on how many discs are required? When I’m reading seems they all are required to have the same on each side? Or was you just saying he may have just like left one out not knowing what he was doing?

May have accidentally left one out. I have read a thread about that very situation. Doubtful here, since both sides were done. Keep us posted.

One more thing the power steering cylinder on the right side works perfectly when you pull back on the lever, it goes back smooth and I can feel the hydraulics kick in! The cylinder on the left is tighter and doesn’t go back as far as the one on the right. What would cause this?
