I'm in the process of replacing chains, sprockets, springs and slack adjusters on my 450 plain dozer. When I removed the adjusters on one side a piece that looked like a piece of pipe came out of the part that the front spring seat sits against. On the other side it looked like a piece of split pipe with one end still welded. What I need to know are these pieces factory for a guide for the piston rod or is this something a previous owner rigged.

I found a pic of the track frame in my parts catalog, and the pieces I was asking about were shown in the pic so I guess I need to try to replace them.
