Steering clutch drive shaft 350 straight
Steering clutch drive shaft 350 straight
Can anybody tell me the factory diameter of the small pilot bearing shaft on the end of the steering clutch drive shaft. Mine mikes to about .527", the i.d. on a new pilot bearing is around .59 inches. Upon removal I found a sleeve/bushing over the shaft which leads me to believe my shaft is worn and may need built up and machined back to proper diameter. Thanks.

Because the shaft rotates a snug fit is necessary. I don't know the correct shaft size nor am I a machinist, but I would think 1/16 of and inch difference could be made up with a bushing.
Is the shaft chamfered? If so I would say there is little to no wear. If no chamfer exist then there could be no wear, but can't be sure.
Ultimately if you wanted to build the shaft up and re machine or simply add a 1/16th bushing it'll be ok...in my opinion.
