450e flywheel

How hard is a ring gear replacement? I galled mine up today. Not major damage but the starter is spinning/ grinding in that one spot.

If I had crank it past I can get it to start, but if the flywheel stops where the damage is the starter won’t engage

I have a shop manual on order, but want to know how bad I messed up

You will need to pull the engine to get to the flywheel. Not hard to change the ring gear itself once you get the flywheel off the engine.
