450E steering clutch oil level

Post by matwyukm » Tue Sep 03, 2019 7:52 am

Couldn't find anything in the manual on checking the steering clutches oil level. Is there a way to do this or not. Could only find the capacity. Saw the final drive info. Yeah you guess it, I'm a newbie to this machine. Thanks for your patience

If you drain everything you fill the steering clutch compartments and transmission separately. After starting and running a few minutes, and for service checks, you use the transmission dipstick as the levels equalize. This is described in my operator's manual, OMT81347. The operator's manual has more service and lube info than the two tech manuals. You need a copy of the Operator's manual if you don't have one.

Are your manuals reprints of the John Deere manual numbers I had in a reply to one of your earlier posts or third party manuals? If you have a reprint of the JD operator's manual I posted it should be on page 59 for checking the transmission and steering clutch oil level. They show changing the transmission and steering clutch oil starting on page 68 (1000 hour maintenance).
