350 JD crawler loader bolts?

Post by hassjb » Fri Sep 06, 2019 12:19 pm

Replaced steering clutch on JD 350 crawler loader and have 4 bolts ( 5/8" ) that are unusual in that they have a raised shoulder that runs from the threads about half way to the bolt head and then reduces to the thread diameter ( no threads ) the rest of the way to the bolt head. I didn't notice that when I took things apart. It has mounting brackets for a quick-tach backhoe. Any ideas where they belong?

On a dozer they would be in the front (bottom) holes on the final drive. Don't know about loader but suspect the same.

Thanks. with that info I went back to my manual and see they are described as "special" cap screws and are indeed the bolts attaching the final drive to the rear axle housing. Thanks again for the help solving that mystery...

On the humorous side...What do they call an Armadillo? A Possum in a half shell...Sorry, I couldn't help myself!
