I’m gonna try a longer bolt. This side had been apart before repeatedly. Funny thing is I already installed a 3/8 16 Heli coil on the pinion bearing cap. Wasn’t sure they made a repair kit that big. Apparently they do. 85 bucks. Well if the longer bolt doesn’t work I’ll try the Heli coil. At least at this point it’s easy enough to pull the final back off. Thanks for all the parts Lavoy, everything looked great

Can anyone tell me how much fluid to add to the reverser after draining pan/filter change? Also maybe how to drain whole system? And capacity for that? Manual doesn’t state. Thanks John

So just in case it helps someone else, I took an tan a 3/4-10 tap as far as it would go. Then I cut the taper off the tap essentially creating a bottoming tap, ran that in and cut a bolt to the full length of hole giving myself about a 1/8 inch of clearance for clamping pressure. And it held. On another note despite going through the specified clutch brake adjustments I seem to have slight drag on the brake bands. This is of course crudely measured in that I have the rear end up and am turning the sprockets. I don’t think drag is normal but of course I don’t know for sure. I did replace many of the bronze bushings to take up slack. But something feels slightly off with the drag. Any suggestions? The shafts turned freely in the “differential and the finals turned freely prior to installation. Any suggestions? Thanks John

I have found at times that I go one half to one turn looser on the brake bands than recommended. Maybe after they polish up a little it might not be so bad, but on new ones, they are often aggressive.

Thanks, makes sense. Hoping to test drive by end of weekend. Does anyone know if the rear belly pan is supposed to be flat? Mine’s got a heck of an arch up presumably from driving over debri. If it is supposed to be flat towards the rear I’m gonna drive a much bigger machine over it and straighten it rate out. I did quite a bit of searching and can’t really decide. Thanks John

So. This may sound stupid but I have to ask.. before I ask I am using a loader crawler operating manual. The winch doesn’t appear to have a pressure relief port, nor does the hydraulic tank cap... so that being said I’m assuming that both need one? I’m rate into the meat and potatoes as I put it back together. Thanks John

Hey folks , so many of you have a great deal of difficulty with the lower bolt on these John Deere starters and it seems to be a problem on many of thier engines. In fact I have a 310D extenda- hoe and it to is a pina. My solution was to cut a slot in the stud. After bending a wrench to fit I only have to losses/tighten the nut a half turn, then I easily spin out with a long screwdriver. Hope this helps someone. On another note does anyone know if the water pump/alternator belt can be changed just by simply disengaging the hydraulic pump? This is the same straight 350 dozer. The lever is siezed and the belt needs to be changed. Or does the whole coupler need to be removed? Thanks john

Using the search function I was able find my own answer. Seems when the lever is freed you can change the belt relatively easily. Thanks John

Depends on which supplier I get them from, but around $200, maybe less.

Ok. Good to know. I got one track adjuster freed up. By pumping apart. After many searches I couldn’t find anyone describing what I’m experiencing. So I’m asking on the bottom side of adjuster is a round hole that the grease is coming out of. Is this the relief hole ? And is the grease exiting there because I don’t have the ball and spring? Thanks John
