Help dating my JD350 by serial number

Post by Chuck924 » Mon Feb 24, 2020 12:38 am

Hello, looking for help in dating my JD 350 crawler loader by the serial number. I have been to several places looking but the serial number on mine is not even close to any of the lists I don’t know how to post a picture of it, but the numbers on the tag are. SNE7350001683T. Any suggestions? Do you think maybe the cowling part that is on it is off of something else? Just trying to figure the model year
Thanks for any help

Hi,

I think that is the loader serial number, not the crawler one.

I agree with Stan you have the loader attachment serial number.

This note from the straight 350 parts catalog that applies to that. " *NOTE: SERIAL NUMBER PLATES ON JD350 CRAWLER LOADERS BEAR THE NUMBER 7350 AS A BASIC PREFIX PORTION OF THE SERIAL NUMBER. THIS IS NOT A MACHINE MODEL NUMBER AND SHOULD NOT BE USED TO IDENTIFY THE LOADER." The note is not in the B catalog but similar may apply to a B series as the loader attachments for a straight 350 and a 350B are separate catalogs from the crawlers. The loader is included in the C and D series parts catalogs.

You need to get the crawler serial number to confirm which series it is. If you can get that we can help you decode it. If it is a straight 350 or early 350 B the tag will be on the right side of the panel below the seat, behind your right calf if you were setting in the seat. If the tag is missing you should see 1/8" rivet holes about 2 to 3 inches apart in that location. The serial number for a late production 350B would be on a tag which was riveted to the front of the battery box where you would see it looking at the operator's platform from the ground on the left side of the machine. That location was used starting somewhere in the 350B production run and continued through the 350Ds.

I am back from vacation and i found the other tag. Serial number is listed as
SNT 4E3D 028400T The 4E3D are ‘thicker’ characters.
Not sure what year or model is.

Here is the machine serial number breakdown using the 350 Introduction from the JD parts Catalog:

SN = serial number
T = Tractor
4 = JD350
E = Crawler loader
3 = Diesel
D = Transmission (sliding gear with reverser)

Serial number: 028400 (This number falls in the 1966 build range using the serial number list on this site’s FAQ board)

T= (Build location) John Deere Dubuque Works

This serial number is a 1966 straight 350 crawler loader with a diesel engine and sliding gear transmission with a reverser.
