Putting a 3315 Winch on my 350. Have a fender mount valve control but aren't sure the correct hose hook-up as the winch face has no markings. With four hoses the combinations are many. and each time to change you must lift the fuel tank to get to the hoses. The shop manual isn't to clear either. Anyone know the correct layout?

I know this is an old thread, but it seems this is coming up from time to time. So here is what I have learned about the 3315 winch with spool type control valve. It is an open center hyd system(oil is always being pumped, but pressure is not exerted until the spool valve is moved). Fluid is always flowing from the small Webster/Danfoss pump through a hard steel line from the pump to a threaded hole into the left/clutch-brake case. This threaded hole has three paths. One to the bottom of the winch for a test port, Two- through to the left side case, to another steel line connecting to the brake cylinder and Three- a machined oil galley to the front of the winch.
On the front side of the winch (the side facing the crawler), there should be 4 ports for oil. One on the far right of the machine (passenger side-right) dumps oil back into the oil reservoir from the top left port of the spool valve. Second port- the port closest to the center of the winch is for the oil filter, it will have three threaded bolt holes around the port to hold the filter assembly to the winch case. The filter is feed by a hose coming of the left side of the spool. It is a passive filtration system. If it becomes plugged, the oil simply goes through the spool valve to the port on the right side of the case back into the reservoir(unfiltered). Third port is the supply from the pump. The oil has already traveled through the steel line, through the galley and out of the winch into the right position on top of the spool valve via a rubber hose. The supply port is between the oil filter port and the far left port(fourth port). Fourth and final port is on the far left on the front of the winch. This port will energize the clutch to engage the winch. This is feed oil from the center opening on top of the spool, via a rubber hose.
With the control lever in the central hold position, Oil flows from the pump to the spool, through the spool to the filter and the right port, both of these dump right back into the oil reservoir. Constant flow of oil while the machine is running(450 machines without PTO disconnect). Remember the brake is active/on with two large springs when the control level is in the hold position.
When the control lever is moved to the unwind position, the spool valve supplies pressure to the brake cylinder(releasing the brake band- if your pump is supplying good pressure 800-1000psi). Now you can free spool the cable out. There will be little to no flow through the filter, by-pass, and clutch ports.
When the control lever is moved to cable-in/wind position the spool energizes the brake (same as free spool/unwind) and the clutch. Now the brake is closest to the pump-so it will energize and release fractions of a second before the clutch, then pressure is energized to the clutch for wind in cable.
Re-cap Four rubber hoses from the spool to the front of the winch case. Left side of spool to the filter housing. Left top of spool to far right port of the winch case. Center top spool to the far left port of the winch case.. Right top of spool to the port(this is carrying oil from the pump) between the filter and the for left port.
Test port of pressure analysis- One on the left case- this is for clutch pressure. One on the bottom of the left case. I know there are two 1/4 inch pipe plugs. Which one is for the Brake pressure. It is the one closest to the center of the winch. The 1/4 plug toward the outside of the winch is simply a drain plug for the left case/quill.
