350B hydraulic/transmission oil

Post by 1968camaor » Thu Apr 09, 2020 1:05 pm

I want to replace all the hydraulic/transmission oil in my 350B that I just picked up. I don’t have a John Deere dealer super close to me. It’s there a tractor supply or Walmart brand that will work?

You want to use an oil that meets or exceeds the current John Deere spec for Hy-Gard which is JDM J20C. TSC has Traveler Premium Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid (the black bucket) that they advertise as meeting the spec. Walmart , Napa, and others may well have a fluid you could use, Read/Check their data to see that they meet or exceed that spec (JDM J20C). If the container isn't labelled or the vendor can't provide a technical data sheet with the info, I would pass on it. My opinion, others may vary.

Thanks. I completely agree with you. I’ll find one that meets those specs. I have tractor supply near so that’s most likely where I’ll go. I just didn’t want to put something in it that would cause harm

Hi,

Yup. TSC in the back bucket. Any place, any brand, look for the J20C spec on the label. Stay away from the pile of other buckets that say '303' on them.....

Also, the J20D spec is not good for this, as that is the thinner variant for certain other JD machines. Not what we have.
