What motors will fit my 450C?

Post by vthartford » Wed Dec 20, 2006 7:11 pm

I am getting conflicting information on what motors will work in my 450C? It had a 4219DT in it. I have been told that any 4219 or 4239 will fit. If I get one out of an aircompressor, Will I have to change any major parts? Are there any other motors that will fit? Can I put a Turbo motor in this if that is what I find even though the current motor is non-turbo?

Thanks fo the help,
Bill

I found a good working 4276T out of an air compressor. Does anyone know if it will bolt up to my 450C? Would a John Deere Dealer know?

A 276 is a total different motor but will fit .And will probably find all the weak spots in the drive train when put to work .They are turbo built even if they are not equiped with one[naturaly aspired]and are about 6inches taller in the block and head area . So your muffler wont fit worth a damnd under the hood also the rad wont hook up nice. Now depending on what it came out of the water pump may also be a nightmare . As the 80 plus horse power units used the water pump from the little six cylinder motor 6-329 for extra cooling capacity mounted on a steel plate on the front of the block .And there is no room under the hood for that pump .But nothing in the small Deeres would out push it if you could shoe horn that motor in .Digitup.
