1974 350 B
AT148149 looks to be the latest part listed. I'm not sure about the drive cable, but I'll need both.
All things considered I'm considering an electric tach. Does anyone have any experience in this area?
Thanks

Re: Tachometer options
I don't know where you would get a pulse to run the tach.

Re: Tachometer options
Best I can figure you place a magnet on something that rotates or you place a sensor on the altenator to get the pulse. Then apparently you have to calibrate the tach to match the rpm from the engine. I'm doubtful it would be accurate on a consistent basis.
The tach currently on the dozer is a stewart warner and has a part number of 826243 on it, but they no longer have that tach available. I'm not opposed to getting some random tach, but I'm worried the cable wont match the drive gear on the crawler.

Most tachs use the same connection on the back of the tach. I would buy a generic tach that is the correct diameter. I can get direct replacments with the wrong face, but too expensive as far as I am concerned, $165.

I've had one of these on my 450C for about 6 mos now and it seems to be working ok. Took a few weeks to get it from India, and might be longer now due to COVID stuff. It's kinda slow to respond to throttle changes (pretty highly damped), but it gets there. And I really like having an hour meter where it can be easily seen.

Re: Tachometer options
A company called "Tiny Tach" makes them for diesel engines. All it takes is a clamp around one of the feeds to an injector. It is digital and keeps track of total hours and job hours. It is backlit for when you are working at night. I have been using one for about a 2years and it is still working fine. I would suggest mounting it in a dry place, it does not look completely weatherproof. https://tinytach.com/. They are about $100.
