problems with shifting on jd450

Post by RTCTransport » Fri Dec 22, 2006 5:08 pm

I just purchased a jd 450 loader.snE7450001644U on dash
8N15E3M016269T beside seat what year is it and what engine does this have

The trans what is it? it has middle shifter in floor RHL It has a
gear selector on left hand side

the previous owner had new sprockets
one new idler roller, new belts ,hoses battery, he also replaced steering clutch and brake on one side. steers good, engine sounds strong cranks good except when it gets about 25 degrees then needs help

The only problem I have encountered so far is the clutch and trans doesnt work right has all gears and pulls good, no slips but cant shift between gears while running without a lot of scraping gears.

any help I would greatly appreciate Is it worth 9000?

Your clutch may need to be set up .Shifting should not be that bad a task .If your motor is stock you have a 4-202D diesel a gaser would also have been available in that model a 4-180G.The 16269T is the serial number and I have posted the serial numbers earlier but will look them up for you .The poor starting at lower temperatures is normal if it has considerable work hours on the meter
