450c stump pan assembly

Post by 8thnotch » Sun Jul 05, 2020 7:14 pm

Hello all thank you for adding me to the site .I recently purchased a 450c dozer when i bought it , it was parked in the grass didn't realize until I loaded it that the stump pan is bolted on in the front but hanging down to the ground in the back . The counterweight was sitting in the bucket when I bought it. Is there some kind of bracket that should be welded to the cross bar. Looking at it looks like there was a plate welded on it by somebody but is missing . And looking at the counter weight looks like there should be something to hold it in the front of the weight and than bolts on each side at the back of the machine . I cannot find any diagrams or even a picture of the rear axle assy to go by . Thank you for any help .

Hello 8thnotch,

Here is the JDeere parts catalog link/pictures. There is the bottom guard for the engine then there is a short or long rear bottom guard. I believe the short one works with the rear counter weight. I believe it actually bolts to the weight IIRC.

Since you said the counterweights were in the bucket; it sounds to me like you actually have a crawler loader, not a dozer, is that right? The bottom guard parts, Bruce pointed you to, are the same on the dozer and loader. You will likely need this other catalog to find the counterweights and any loader parts for your crawler loader. Here is a link to the crawler loader parts catalog. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/nav ... ment/73571

I will ask the usual question. Are you sure it is a 450C by verifying the serial number? 450C decals seem to end up on a lot of straight 450s and 450Bs, and it can make a difference on parts and procedures. Hope yours truly is a C.

Has a 450C decal on side of machine original decals there’s only one serial tag I can find riveted to left side in front of battery box below controls to battery box it reads type:450CA serial 233330T or it’s 233830T has a large gouge in the tag machine has brackets for backhoe attachment motor has a turbo on it if that helps ? The back cross bar (steel shaft going across the back from beam to beam has one steel plate welded to it with a big hole In it looks like a pin could go in it . It looks like the shaft has rotated upward as the plate is up against rear end gear box thank you for the help

The plate with the large hole in it is likely the front attachment for a drawbar.

Looks like a 1975, according to the SN’s listed in the FAQ section.
