Power steering

Post by 450FiveString » Thu Sep 24, 2020 11:05 am

I've got a straight 450 dozer with a power steering problem. Much more effort is required when turning to the right. I've had the right clutch and brake out recently and replaced some broken springs in both brakes and I know that all of the linkages are moving ok. There does appear to be some small leakage around the cylinders but it's not much. Seems if it was the p/s pump it would affect both sides. I'm suspecting a problem in the valve body between the cylinders. Anybody have any other ideas?

Did you do the complete steering clutch adjustment procedure, as laid out in the manual, after replacing parts? Adjustments can be touchy. Have you done the power steering diagnostics? Any signs of oil or grease contamination? Just some thoughts.
