search program stinks
search program stinks
FYI...I tried to do a search for 450 steering clutch removal...your programs response was "the words are too common"
I think I was not using what your program was looking for OR. the program was not designed for searches...either way...it IS NOT USER FRIENDLY..
Jost thought you should know....ha ha

Re: search program stinks
Are you having a specific problem removing your 450 steering clutches or are you looking for a how to guide? If there is a question please ask it. If you are looking for a guide to do it, do you have the correct JD service/technical manual for it? There are directions in the manuals, folks here can help with specific questions.
Here is a link to some information on this site: viewtopic.php?t=10036 When the site says the words are too common try using a search engine (Bing, Google, etc.), use the words you used and add jdcrawlers to the end of your words, my Bing search got this post (450 steering clutch removal jdcrawlers).

Try this search string in your favorite search engine:
450 steering clutch removal site:jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/
In duckduckgo that brought up some useful hits.

Ha Ha ,,all of your replies ARE welcomed AND thanks to you all...BUT I was only trying to use the search feature on this site/(late model JD crawler).
And I realize that I lack todays computing skills.
I was looking for info/pictures on what I may be experiencing when I decide to remove a steering clucth assy from my JD450 that has decided to NOT turn left anymore..
Thanks again for everyones input.
It still seems like the search feature ON THIS SITE STINKS...Ha Ha Also Lavoy has helped me in the past

Re: search program stinks
crawler 123 has a great post on 450 clutch repair
Re: search program stinks
Thanks FL450B this post and the one I linked in an earlier post should give john450 the general idea of what is involved. crawler123 has a dry clutch B series so other than possibly difference in disc thicknesses the it should be the same procedure as the straight 450 (dozer or loader). Here is the link to crawler123's post I think you are referencing.

john450,
Do these 2 links give you what you are looking for?
Jim

Re: search program stinks
Jim B Thank you for link to crawler123 and steering clutch removal on a straight 450...to answer the first fellows reply YES I do have the service manual for the 450 that spells out the procedure BUT usually you find out by the school of hard knocks or experience little things that help.
I do believe your site is a good one BUT the search part of the program is not very easy to use ( unless you are a more sophisticated computer user I think)
Just my 2 cents on my experience that I figured you would like to hear about.
Again thanks to you all for taking the time to read my comments and reply.
And Jim B thank you again...I will review 123's information when I get closer to performing the repair.
Also thank you Lavoy again for your help in the past.
