Putting a 3325 winch on a 550g
Putting a 3325 winch on a 550g
I know it will be a job but I’m trying to put a winch from a 450c onto a 550g. My question is how do I seal the pto shaft from the dozer? When I take the cover off, it seems like I would want to keep it clean at the bearing. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

I hope you are a machinist or access to a reasonable one. You will need custom mounting brackets, the factory Deere winch receiving plate (4 bolt cover), then an adapter drive coupling to make this work. A 3325 is not sufficient for the pulling power of a day one 450 or 550, so not really adequate for a G series machine. I don’t think they would pull a stuck machine out even if you doubled up the winch line and used a snatch block. I would recommend going with a hydraulic winch vs what you have planned.
I’ve seen pictures of them on D3’s, so not saying what you are planning on doing is not possible. Just don’t think you will be happy with the final product.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I do realize it’s a bit underpowered for a 550, however it’s what I have so I’m going to try to make it work. I really just want it mounted to drag some firewood and maybe a little tug if I go somewhere stupid! A winch/pro adapter plate is what I’m looking for. I’ve looked through the parts book and can’t find what I’m looking for. I’m picturing In my head a short stub shaft on a bearing with a seal to extend the existing shaft. Is that even a thing? Thanks

To me it looks like JWB Contracting is telling you you might find the factory Deere winch receiving plate (4 bolt cover), but the rest (mounts and drive line is fabricate and/or modifying things, no kit to do what you want.
