Correct torque for crankcase oil drain plug

Post by abdiver » Wed Nov 04, 2020 12:13 am

I would imagine there is a factory torque value or a recommended torque for the crankcase oil drain plug. I have searched and have not found it. Anyone know what the Torque for a 350C oil drain plug be ? Besides.....tight ? I already have it tight, I just don't want it to go from tight to stripped. Thanks Bill T

I can't say I ever saw a torque spec for a drain plug. Be sure you have the sealing washer between the pan and plug head. The JD part number is T13213 for the aluminum washer. You might do well to replace the washer, if you haven't ever done that. They get hard, crushed, and worn; then don't seal as well and require tightening harder to seal, which can lead to stripping threads. Tight, with a good soft sealing washer, is the best I know of.
