4000 Winch Weldco-Beales MFG Arch

Post by davidblackburn1 » Wed Nov 04, 2020 5:42 pm

Good day

We have a weldco-beales logging arch for our 4000 winch.

The issue that we are having is with the fairlead. The two vertical rollers will not turn and we cannot drive out the center pins out to work on them.

I have the parts explosion from weldo-beales.

Has anyone experienced this issue and figured out a way to bust them loose? We have been spraying WD 40 and liquid wrench in the gaps and hoping it will help break them loose. The interesting piece is there is no lube fitting on these rollers, but there is on the horizontal rollers.

This is their website, but there is not a discussion forum for support on their products.

Sorry, no experience with them. Shaft through rollers held in frame with pins/bolts? Bearings or bushings in rollers? There's nothing on their site I could see that shows how those are built/assembled, hard to help without more info, so Bruce's idea would be about a good a guess as any based on available info. If it is a shaft through the rollers and there is room around the roller some machine shops have induction heaters that use wires you might wrap around the roller to heat it quickly. I've seen a 10,000+ pound runner just drop off a shaft using induction heat. Similar to this but much larger.

heating them red hot then letting cool on there own heat is a lot better than any penetrating oil have used on frozen parts in the past with good results
