I've got the engine out of the 350...it was the isolator

Post by kratester » Sat Dec 30, 2006 6:49 pm

...and you nailed it Lavoy; 2 springs had come off and a third keeper cracked at the isolator. A couple of questions now, Am I assuming this happened due to fatigue? Is there anything I can check or do to keep this from happening again? I will be sure to Loctite the studs as someone suggested earlier. The input shaft seems OK but that's just by feel and observation. Any suggestions on installing the isolator springs? The manual doesnt seem to go into much detail. Thanks for the help.

I have never seen any isolator repair in the manual myself although it is a more common repair as the springs get older .Yes fatigue has a lot to do with spring failure.Twenty or even Forty year old springs in that torque and they will be the week spot . Your in put shaft should be good unless there was something badly wrong . Digitup.
