What will I have to remove to change a 450C brake band?
I've adjusted the steering lever as far as I can, and I still have no steering brake on the right side. Pretty sure I'll have to replace the brake band. From studying the manual and the parts book, I think I can pull off the hydraulic reservoir, the fuel tank, and then open the top to get at the brake anchor, and then disconnect the pressure line from the steering clutch
.
Next step is to remove the bearing quill from the output pinion and pull the pinion shaft so I can lift out the steering clutch and finally replace the brake band.
Do I have to remove the track, sprocket and final drive to do this last bit? Or can I just remove the shaft without taking all that off?

Did you adjust the brake bank adjustment. Round wheel behind a pipe plug that you remove from the steering clutch case.
You said you adjusted the lever. You don’t normally need to make any adjustment on the external mechanic linkage.

No, I didn't see anything to adjust inside in the manual. Where is this pipe plug? Can you point me to a manual page?

Right above the sprocket, largest pipe plug. Remove and adjust band, similar to a drum brake adjuster.

This is the left final drive of my other 450C. The left side of the photo is toward the front of the machine. I believe the pipe plug on the upper left is the one you're talking about?
Looking in the manual again, Section 40 page 15-3, I see in figure 3 a toothed adjusting wheel, that's probably what I'm going to have to try to turn through the pipe plug.

Yes the plug taken out from the side. The plug in line with the sprocket is for the clutch / pinion shaft retainer bolt.

Re: What will I have to remove to change a 450C brake band?
That worked!
It takes a 3/4" drive extension to remove the plug.
On the right side of the machine, I pulled out that plug and the toothed adjusting nut was right there, easily accessible. I pushed the TOP of the wheel AWAY from me until it got harder to turn.
On the left side, the side with the shifters, I suspect I would need to push the BOTTOM of the wheel AWAY from me, since I'd be working on the other side of the screw.
Now the machine turns to the right as well as to the left. I knocked down some trees and grubbed out the stumps to celebrate!
Edited to add: none of this was in the manual.

Re: What will I have to remove to change a 450C brake band?
Back to the original question: for future reference, is it possible to pull the steering clutch and brake band without breaking the track and removing the final drive?
Re: What will I have to remove to change a 450C brake band?
Breaking the track or removing the sprocket is not required for the brake band. Even though they show breaking the track and pulling the sprocket before removing the brake band, they show removing the brake band before pulling the pinion shaft which passes through the steering clutch. Removal of the final drive is not required for the steering clutch, just pulling the pinion drive shaft. Breaking the track, likely. I don't have a 450C manual to look at but the B and E manuals describe removing the sprocket (which will at least require slacking the track, if not breaking it). With the sprocket off you can pull the pinion drive shaft without removing the final drive, when the appropriate time comes. I would expect similar info in the C manual, either in the General section under Separation (that's where it is in the B manual) or under Steering Clutch and Brake Band in the Axle Shafts, Bearings and reduction Gears section (where it is in the E manual).
As for adjusting the brake band, its not the E's technical manual as a diagnostic/troubleshooting, it is in the installation of the brake. There is info on the brake adjustment as a maintenance item in the 450E Operator's manual, I can't say if the same is in the 450C Operator's manual.
