JD 450 Diesel Starter

I need a starter for a John Deere 450 Diesel crawler loader. I believe it is a 1968 model but I'm not sure. Do the starters that fit the 450c tractors fit mine? Is there a recommended place to purchase them? I want to avoid getting a gas engine starter as I've read they are weaker. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. I inherited this tractor from my dad and I'm trying to fix it up and get it running again. Once I get it running I've got to address the left side steering clutch that won't release.

I reached out to Lavoy but he said he didn’t know if the 450c starters were compatible with the straight 450 machine. He said he would need to do some research and suggested I remove my old starter first and get the number off of it. Does anyone here have a part number or an internet source for a JD 450 starter? I was under the impression that they were all the same.

350 and 450 Crawlers up to the C series are the same, D may be different and E is for sure. They do however all fit. Also fit from older 440 and 540 skidders.
