I have a 1978 john deere 350b dozer. The reverser went out in it. It will still move if I put in gear manually. Question is, can I still use it without the reverser?
2nd question. Do the reverser and transmission have separate oil tanks/holder or do they use the same tank?
Thank you

Re: Reverser went out
What do you mean by "went out"? If it will still move forward AND you have a reverse gear you can work it. Not so if it only has reverse. The reverser and transmission are their own reservoirs and there is a dipstick for each. I would change the reverser filter before condemning the reverser.

Re: Reverser went out
Really don't understand what you are saying. There is no put it in gear manually in relations to the reverser, gear shift procedure doesn't change relative to the reverser. If the reverser went out, the crawler will not move. We will need more info on what is happening,
