Split link on JD450C undercarriage
Split link on JD450C undercarriage
I need to reseal one of the track tension cylinders on my 450C. The machine has Trek rails on it with link pt# 5-0087DQ5 which supposedly indicates it is a lubricated sealed chain with split master link. I am unable to see anything obvious to tell me which is the split link. Is there anything distinct to look for?

Re: Split link on JD450C undercarriage
Trek literature refers to it as a master link but gator teeth or alligator link is what is supposed to be there. I am unable to find anything that looks different to indicate which link it is.

Generally when you are looking at the side of them, they look like a solid link where the regular links have openings beside each pin, with a center bar between the going between the pad surface and the roller rail surface.

My salt tracks do not have a gator style master link. I had to pressure wash it and get on my hands and knees and I found one link that had score marks in the side and a very slight mushrooming, that's my master pin. I looked a couple times just quickly, it's a very slight difference. You have to be committed to finding it.
