JD450 H-L-R transmission filters

Post by LMBE » Wed Sep 29, 2021 4:55 pm

Hello All,
I want to clean the HLR transmission filter and check condition.
I have read several posts on this and did not see how to remove the cover.
I have drained the oil, removed the 3 bolts that seem to hold the filter cover on.
I do not really see what to pry on to get it to come loose, I am trying not to break anything. I have tapped on the cover, and tried to pry but no luck.
Any suggestions?

Larry

Hi Larry,

Try working a small thin chisel between the cover and the case and it will come off. It is probably stuck on due to the gasket and sealant being old.
