6-Way Blade Controls
6-Way Blade Controls
What do people normally do with the blade control handle and linkage when it gets so loose you have a "mystery shifter"? I looked and found that none of the parts are available anymore and thought about welding them up and re-drilling them. Then the thought crossed my mind that I have a bunch of throttle shaft bushings in 5/16 and 3/8 from the old days when carbs got rebuilt. I decided to use the reamers to open up the holes in the affected parts of the linkage and install bronze bushings and new roll pins. No more slop at all in the joints and they move pretty freely. Time will tell, but it will most likely outlast me as a farm dozer, and will make for easy replacement if they do wear out.

Excellent solution
Re: 6-Way Blade Controls
Had issues with my 6 way levers on jd440ic...that issue was in the straight rod and pipe (cyl) that the rods and handles clamp on, had machinist make 2 sets...clamps kept slipping as just worn enough....new pieces solved problem on that...both sets were loose before
My David Brown front loader pins were also worn out, i fortunately had some brass and aluminum tubes i had bought at Ace Hardware that were just the correct size to fill the pins holes and also let the pins fit in.

Great Ideas, when I did my loader I used Oil-Embedded Flanged Sleeve Bearings that I got from McMaster Carr.

I like this idea and have thought about it in the past but never had the time to try it. Also the replacement parts were always available. I would think that as long as you keep the pivot points lubed they should last a long time.
