ROOSA Injector Pump Q / Berry Creek
Hello, the information on the message board has been helpful with my various issues through the years.
I own a 1965 JD 350 with 6-way and ripper. It has run great for the years Ive owned it.
Right now it runs out of diesel fuel. Slowly the idle comes down. Then I shut it off. After waiting an hour I can move it. Then the same condition. Shorter each time.
Seems plenty of fuel in the fuel tank, cleared the feed line, cleared the return line. the check ball on the IP pump is unobstructed. From the message board the IP is faulty. I took off the inspection/timing cover and the fuel came running out. Is that normal?

The oil level in the engine is fine.
If I were to have the pump rebuilt/replaced, who does this with a bench test?
Where is a reputable company to buy a lift pump from?
All the filters were changed 1-year ago. Wix.
I put the BioClean in the tank during the winter, the fuel is always full.

Have you checked your vent in the tank? You mentioned everything but it.

Hi,
Fuel comes out when you remove that cover, so that is normal.
Sounds like a plugged tank vent to me. This is what it all looks like:

Try loosening the tank cap when it begins to die. If that straightens it out, run a wire thru that vent tube. Bugs like to build nests in those.

I did clear that line with air. I have a twist off cap. I will try and run without the cap.
The injector pump might be original. the dozer has been through quite a few hands,
so I have no documentation on service.

Re: ROOSA Injector Pump Q / Berry Creek
I have readjusted the tracks recently.
Re: ROOSA Injector Pump Q / Berry Creek
I would also check the low pressure lift pump. I have had similar problems on fuel injected gas engines. Also had the exact symptoms on JD 300. Cleaned and changed the fuel filters and it still only run for about 5 minutes. Turns out my hand pump I was using to fill the tank was disintegrating and pumping debris into the fuel tank. What a mess that was.
Nice looking machine. Love to have some rippers on my loader.

Re: ROOSA Injector Pump Q / Berry Creek
take the return line loose at injector pump, if you have a spare clean rubber hose attach at fitting and run back to tank or in a bucket. start machine and see if it stays running now, if it does I'd say you have a blockage on return fuel line rail on engine, given that u said return line to tank is clear. I have a 450c that was doing the same thing and it had a blockage on return fuel line rail at injectors, took rail off and found that the rubber grommets from t connector fittings on rail had worn and broke off pieces over time and clogged rail, cleared, cleaned and put back together. It has ran perfect every since
