Track Tensioner Spring

I am wondering if track adjuster springs seize up ever. Last year I acquired two used spring assemblies for my 350B. When I redid my steering on the left side and installed a new track I replaced the broken spring with the new used spring. Everything worked fine all season, but I felt like the track idler did not move back and forth very much. Mine seemed to only move around a half an inch based on fresh wear marks. I just felt that was not enough. What would be typical movement?

Unless you have the crawler stood on it's nose in the bottom of a hole under extreme load, or run a rock or something through the tracks, I would not expect them to ever move for the most part.

Before I got new pads with relief holes cut, bound up snow would shake your teeth when the chain jumped teeth on the sprocket.
