350b engine blown. Need help!

Post by JPS » Fri Apr 01, 2022 8:50 am

Hey guys. Looking for some info on what I need to know for ordering a major overall kit for my 350b. Is there specific things I have to know to ensure getting the right parts? Any and all info is gratefully appreciated. I’m in Newfoundland and it’s hard to get parts here. Thanks

You will need your engines serial number and the serial number of the machine itself. These numbers are not one hundred percent needed but they sure make it a lot easier. The engine serial number should be on an aluminum tag on the righthand side of the block. Or on the starter side. The machine serial number can be found in one of two places. Either on the kick panel / seat support right behind your left heel or on the front of the battery box.

You say it is hard to get parts where you live so a word of advice. Be careful not to buy cheap aftermarket parts. That being said, not all aftermarket parts are bad. Just be careful of the cheap ones. I would check here with Lavoy first to see what he can do and then go from there. If you have a Deere dealer then they should be able to source everything you will need. Even aftermarket sources.

Thanks for the info. So I just tore the engine apart and there is a piece broken on the oil ring on #3 cylinder. Liner is scored also. So the serial number on the battery box is 146595t. So I’m assuming it’s a 1972 model. The engine plate is 3152DT 06 216347T. I removed a main bearing cap and the number is FM T-23214-T 1 70. The connecting rod ones are. FM T-20011. 2 70. I have the parts book for this machine and those numbers are not there. I’m assuming that they are original and the crank wasn’t cut? Also my isolator is shot☹️ Now I just have to get the right parts. What’s your thoughts on this? Thanks

Check out the two parts pages I linked from the online parts catalog for the 350B. Your bearing numbers show up in the remarks area for the item key number. JD dropped the T suffix, from most all part numbers, years ago. From other crank bearings I believe the FM prefix means those were made by Federal Mogul Has that part number for John Deere. For your isolator parts, actually all your parts, check with Lavoy (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) or call him during CST business hours at the phone number on the homepage. He provides this site for our use, so only fair to support him if we can.

Great thanks. I’ll check here with Lavoy first and go from that.

I used this company for the rebuild that I just did on my 450C and the parts were of good quality.
