450G steering valve

Post by jbrainard » Wed Apr 27, 2022 2:45 pm

I have a 450G pedel steer direct drive pre 770000 serial number.
The machine is new to us, bought with a bad motor, after the overhaul we found that it will not steer to the right.
Removed the steering clutch and found nothing wrong, replaced piston o-rings and pressure manifold rings and put it back together.
Tested steering valve pressure and the pressure on right side would not go to zero with spool movement.
Replaced gasket under steering valve and replaced broken springs in spools. I don't think broken springs caused any issues because the spools still moved out when linkage was removed.
Put it back together and still have pressure at all times no matter if spool is pushed in with brake pedal or not.
Looking for advice on why pressure wont drop like it is supposed to.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

The left side was so far out of adjustment that it was screwing up the right side of the steering valve, got both sides adjusted (left first) and it worked properly.

Welcome to the Boards. Thank you for reporting back on what you found; it may help someone in the future. Right now, with a 450G, you are one in the minority here who have machines that new, so your info is building a base for others who will follow.

Thanks for your post. Was about to swap steering valves from a wrecked 650G to a 550G with the same symptoms. We will try adjusting the non-offending side first.
