350B identification

Post by pee vee » Fri Apr 29, 2022 5:45 am

I've been trying to find the year of my old 350B. ID numbers I have on the tad located on the seat mount are T4F3D and 066244T. Engine is stamped with T26935.

Sorry, but that serial number is not a 350B.

Machine serial number tag breakdown using the 350 Introduction from the JD parts Catalog:

SN = serial number
T = Tractor
4 = JD350
F = Crawler - Dozer
3 = Diesel
D = (Transmission) Sliding Gear with Reverser

Serial number: 066244 (This number falls in the 1968 build range using the serial number list on this site’s FAQ board)

T= (Build location) John Deere Dubuque Works

This serial number is a 1968 straight 350 crawler dozer with a diesel engine and reverser.

Wow! Thanks. I've been misled since 1973 when we bought the machine used from a dealer.

Around 1978 the dozer caught fire and was rebuilt by the dealer. Is it possible the seat frame was replaced from old stock? (I know that is a stretch).

That front panel is not part of the seat so I would not see needing to replace it. You would be the one who would have to answer that. Didn't you have the serial number recorded prior to the fire?

It is not uncommon for the wrong decals to be installed after a paint job. Over the years many machines have been sold on decal ID, instead of people verifying serial numbers.

The serial number may have been on the sales slip. Long gone although I remember seeing that document a few year ago and was amazed at the price we paid compared to equipment today.

One thing that led to my confusion is that I thought the hydraulic assist steering didn't come along until the 350B.

The machine has been a workhorse and I've spent many hours with it on the farm, in the woods (logging), and in private construction.

On a straight 350 the reverser lever is on the LH side of the instrument cluster. 350B and C it is mounted on the battery box
