Zerk fitting on track adjusters

Post by Cle Elum John » Sat May 21, 2022 5:14 pm

Are these just run-of-mill zerks or are they something special. I have tried a couple brands they have all leaked. Just bad luck?

On one hand they are run of the mill, if you buy the ones that the check valve ball is good for about 8000 psi. The John Deere numbers are JD7797 or SW 14902. Alemite has some good for 8000 psi. I had the specs on the JD ones, but I think they are in the info on a portable drive that quit working on me. Lavoy likely has some good ones.

I think many of the ones in the cheap kits you can get, or from a drawer at the hardware store, will not hold the pressure needed. They will work for lubrication needs but not on adjusters. I have had some of those refuse to take grease. I think the ball fit is such that it moves enough to plug the passage when you try to pump grease through them.
