JD450C wiring anomily

Post by Ken Wells » Mon Aug 29, 2022 9:21 pm

Trying to straighten out some previous owner wiring. According to the manual my machine should have a voltmeter but instead, has an ammeter and the dash is wired differently.
Has anyone run into this before and is there a schematic I can use for my machine?

According to my serial number, my machine is a 1976 model. (FWIW)

Welcome to the board.

According to the parts catalog machines serial number 343540 and before used an ammeter. Starting with serial number 343541, and after, they had voltmeters. Serial numbers 343540 and 343541 fall in the 1980 build year. No anomaly, your manual may be a printing made after the voltmeters were in use, it happens that they sometimes drop old info or forget to add the new. Wiring will be totally different for the two and they can't be interchanged without rewiring.

What manual do you have? John Deere's TM1102? Is there a printing date on it?

Jim

My machine is 450CE 243302T, 1976 model I believe.

The manual is from eBay, seller Peaceful Creek Manuals. There are no schematics in the electrical section, only in the testing section and it was printed in 1980, I assume for the machines of that year.

How can I get a copy of the electrical schematic for my tractor W/ammeter?

Thanks! :)

There is a copy of a JD 450B manual (TM1033) online at https://archive.org/details/John_Deere_ ... ual_TM1033 . It can be downloaded and saved. The schematics in it and what you have should let you figure yours out.

You can try talking to your JD Construction equipment dealer to see if they can/will help you.
