Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
Wondering if backhoe is interchangeable on 350 / 450 ?
Re: Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
I think they are but... It has been forever since I was last around the two side by side. The Hoes are the same but the brackets may be a bit different where they mount to the machines. I will ask a couple of friends of mine to be sure but I think I remember them being the same for both machines.

Check on that for me Leonard. I appreciate it

Well when I talked to my friends they didn't remember any better than I could. Our general consensus was that maybe not. Your best bet would be to measure the center lines of the mounts between the two machines. 350 and 450. The hydraulics hook the same and you wouldn't have an issue there. But we're thinking the main mounting frames may be different between the two machines. Some of these other guys on here may have a better answer for you and I apologize for not helping you out more. But most of the folks I worked around that would know have all died and I'm getting old as well so there is that!! You might want to call the guys at PB&H out in New Hampshire as they would probably know. ( 603-588-3005 ) Those guys have done a lot of salvage work with these older Deere machines and have a ton of knowledge on what will interchange. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

You helped a lot Leonard. I appreciate it. Like you said, I’m thinking along the lines of what you said that the rear attachment on both machines are probably different widths, etc. If i’m not mistaken, I think everything about the 450 is a little bigger.
Re: Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
You might be able to get some idea if you have the backhoe model (there were several) and check out that model for mount information. It might show some components for 350 and/or 450 use.
Re: Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
Yes the 450 is wider by quite a bit. However I couldn't remember if they had configured the mounting to be the same on both machines. Especially the older ones that used the 9300 hoe. But it has been at least 40 years since I was around where we had both machines together. I was thinking our construction guys were using the same 9300 hoe on both the 350 and 450.
The JDParts page shows different brackets for each machine but they only list the 9300 as being used on the 450s and the 350 had a different hoe. That's not how I remember it but it has just been too long and I'm too damned old!!

I have a 450C with the 9300 backhoe. It is a beast to dig with but makes the machine too tail heavy to comfortably operate as a loader. It is off the machine when I don't need it. On a 350 it would be way too heavy.

I have a 350B with the 9300 hoe on it. Hoe has a radial type vane cylinder on that is still working and doesn’t leak. (KNOCK ON WOOD!!) Bought it from the original owner who bought the dozer and hoe new as a package deal.
Without about 3000# in the bucket the front of the track is off the ground nearly a foot!! I have a 4” x 36” x 60” plate of sold stainless steel the fits nicely inside the bucket. Figure it weighs 2900#.
No idea what that plate is worth, but it doesn’t rust??? Mold shop where I use to work was scrapping it out.
