450 b steering
On the steering for a 450b, when a steering stick is pulled back it disengages the power with a through-out. Does the brake band only acuate when the lever is pulled completely back? One side is only hit and miss on actuating the brake and I'm working hard on understanding the adjustment process? Is there a point in the lever travel that is best for the brake engagement? Should I be considering the hydraulic assist cylinders on the levers? Thanks again for the years of experience being shared here!
Re: 450 b steering
The lever actuates a two step process. First part is pushing a throw-out bearing into a steering clutch to release the drive power to that side. Keep pulling the level and there is a cam to engage the brake band to prevent free wheel travel on that side.
Brake pedal will pull both R and L brake bands on without disengaging the steering clutch packs.
