550A Dash Light
550A Dash Light
All,
I got this dash light that now comes on and off when running the dozer. It looks like a solid drop of liquid above a dotted line and a drop of liquid that isn't solid below the line. I searched on the forum and if I read correctly this is an indicator that a filter is plugged and the oil is bypassing the filter. If this is a correct assumption, what filter is this referring to? The spin on hydraulic filter or the cartridge filter for the transmission under the seat or something else? I would post a picture of the light but I can't figure out how to do that.
Thanks,
Ralph

Re: 550A Dash Light
If memory serves then I think it is the spin on hydraulic filter. Those indicators have always been problematic and will show a plugged filter when actually all it is is an over sensitive sender switch. However that being said it won't hurt to change the filter and then recheck the indicator. Those are also prone to come on when everything is cold. Then after the machine heats up the light will go out.

Thanks for the reply, I plan on changing the hydraulic and transmission filter and see if it goes out.

It looks like Leonard L has your answer. I also have seen those restriction indicators trigger when a system is cold. Service the filter if you haven't to be sure it is not getting plugged and see what that does.

Thanks for the replies and information on the manual, very helpful.
Re: 550A Dash Light
Just an update, the wire going from the sensor to the light was pulled tight against the steering rod because of dirt getting in there and pulling on the wire and rubbing it bare. Fixed that and light is now off.
Thanks,
Ralph
