Straight 550 serial number

Post by RogerP70 » Thu Feb 22, 2024 9:31 pm

I have a question out of curiosity. Hope it doesn’t break any official or unofficial rules.

I just bought a 555, it needs a little TLC so I’ll probably be asking for help later but for now I looked at the serial number list from the FAQ page and this machine is a few thousand numbers before the list starts. Anyone have any idea why? Serial number on my machine is 555-A 235017T

Hi,

I don't know. I pulled the serial numbers from a JD Dealership trade-in guide. But, we have seen some other oddball-ness with other machines with respect to those listings.

Looks like there may have been some production in 1975 which did not make it into that list.....
