450c hlr adjustments
450c hlr adjustments
having a heck of a time to get clutch adjustments. seems every thing I do makes it worse. watched a video on adjusting 450b and they said to back off the hlr linkage stop nut 5 turns then adjust the pressure with trans in neutral and hlr in high to get the pressure up and get it to drop 5-10 psi. I can't find that in my 450c service manual. when I go by my 450c manual I seem to have lost high and reverse altogether. I have tried following the manual and I have apparently missed something or I can't read. anyone have any suggestions.
Re: 450c hlr adjustments
Looking back at your posts it appears you have been having troubles for quite a while. It is possible you have some bad/weak seals; adjustment can't fix those.
The best I can offer is to do all the diagnostic tests and carefully make all the adjustments, in the order given in your 450C manual, one more time and see what happens. If low has good pressure but high and reverse are low, I would suspect a sealing issue.

Re: 450c hlr adjustments
does anyone offer a complete rebuild kit for the HLR. I have a feeling that I'm going into it sooner than later so I better start getting my ducks in a row. I have some very worn linkage and maybe some sticking linkage on clutch pedal to address first. it was working good and sat for three weeks and was bad after that. Thank you for all the help. I read through the past posts on here and it started to make me think and look at other things.
Re: 450c hlr adjustments
Lavoy may know of a kit but at the price of things I doubt there is a total rebuild kit. Most people be inspecting and replacing what is needed. They may not all need the same parts to repair them. You would need to go through the 450C parts catalog online to see if they offer any kits for individual areas like a clutch pack.
Re: 450c hlr adjustments
Did anyone hear that big popping noise when I pulled my head out? Started off with making sure the shift linkage was correct, corrected the pivot joint slacks to make sure neutral dent was correct < high range detent was correct so I could check pressures. NOW have all ranges even though High range doesn't seem a strong as it should be but need to take out and push to make sure. May still have more to do but headed in right direction.

And now for the Paul Harvey version. The rest of the story. I found some homeless found a red rag and moved their bed roll into the bell housing. Rats now I have to clean out the bell housing. You finally think your on a roll and you get another kick. But as they say Keep Smiling, it makes everyone else wonder what you are up to.
Re: 450c hlr adjustments
Homeless are gone. Adjustments are done. test drive performed. Trees fell over, dirt was pushed and piled up for road base. High range goes away after warming up so there will come a time for high range rebuild. Has good strong low and reverse so that is the way it is for now. Thank you for all the info on this forum past and present.
