JD 350 C Issues
Hi all new here and just bought my first Dozer to clean up some property and am finding alot of problems with it. The dozer was a few hours away and I had checked all fluids and noticed trans mission was over filled but at that time didnt really think it was a big issue. Started great ran a lil rough when reving over 1500 rpms and smoked a little but cleared up after a few minutes again didnt worry me. Every thing worked good ran it for about 15 minutes felt ok about it especially since the man told me it had had the engine and fuel pump rebuilt and only had 10 hours on it. Got it home dumped all the fluids and and changed with new filters . Next day I ran it hard about 3 hours and parked it pulled the muffler off to repair the adapter on top of the exhaust while I had it off and out of the way decided to throw some OEM nozzles in hoping to smooth the engine up a little after replacing the nozzles i fired it up and saw oil coming from the manifold I assumed it was doing this the whole time but with the muffler on it burns it off. I checked oil and wasn't even touching the stick I refilled it and figure its loosing 1 quart an hour the man I got it from said keep an eye on the oil because it could take up to 100 hours to seat the ring ???? also reverser oil was low and transmission is now at the top of the fill . Is it normal to use this much oil after a rebuild? has about 45 psi oil pressure at idle starts and runs good very strong and when i crack injectors the idle drops off so feel like it has decent compression. Why would I loose oil from the reverser into the transmission ? I have basic mechanical skills and hope to fix it myself I have a video of it running will try to figure out how or if I can post it.

Welcome to the Boards.
First thing is, have you confirmed by serial number it is a C model? If so, it is a wet clutch machine and a leak somewhere in the steering clutches can transfer fluid from the reverser to transmission/steering clutches as they are likely a common sump.
A quart an hour of engine oil usage sounds extreme, even if the rings weren't seated.

Confirmation it is actually a 350CE think the e is for economy. I pulled the valve covers didn't see anything obvious I now have the information on how to set valves guess that's next.
Re: JD 350 C Issues
The E, after the 350C, tells that it left the factory as a diesel with the inside bulldozer.
A leaking hose in a steering clutch housing or a leaking seal in a steering clutch can be the cause of the oil transfer.

Another tid bit on the oil consumption there is no blow by on the engine the oil fill cap will easily sit on top of the spout while running , nothing out of the dip stick or vent line on valve covers.
