450C 1976 Bell Housing Bolt size
450C 1976 Bell Housing Bolt size
Im working on my 1976 JD450 C and i need to remove the bell housing, does anyone know the bolt size (the large 4 bolts - 2 on each side)? in mm looks about 32mm head. The reason im asking is i need to purchase a socket to remove them (i know they are imperial size...) but not sure what size i need to get as the dozer is 2 hours away (so cant measure), any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Re: 450C 1976 Bell Housing Bolt size
Good evening,
The 450C parts catalog shows the upper bolts as 3/4" x 4" and the two lower ones as 3/4" x 6-1/4", that hold the clutch housing to the transmission case. Our standard 3/4" hex head bolts have 1 -1/8" hex heads, which would be 29mm in metric. A 30mm six point socket might get them out.
A tip to help you. The parts catalog gives the imperial sizes of many of the bolts and capscrews. There are online charts that give you the standard head and nut sizes used on given bolt diameters. Note there are standard and heavy hex sizes, heavy hex being larger. John Deere uses the standard size heads and nuts in most places that I know of.
